CV

I am currently (since September 2015) Professor of Economic and Social History at the Institute for Economic and Social History within the Department of Socioeconomics at Vienna University of Economics and Business. This is my official homepage in German and in English.

Before, I was Associate Professor (department-tenured, June 2011-August 2015) and Assistant Professor (February 2010-May 2011) at the Department of Social Sciences (Department of Economic History and Institutions until April 2013) of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Spain (my official website there is still online in English and in Spanish). I was also the (executive/academic) secretary of that department from July 2012 to August 2015.

Before 2010, I was Postdoc at the Department of Economics at the University of Copenhagen thanks to a grant from its international committee (February 2009 to January 2010) and Research Fellow (2005-2009),  Research Assistant (2004/05) and Student Assistant (2002-2004) at the Institute for Economic and Social History of the University of Münster in Germany (my research fellowship was financed through a grant by Fritz Thyssen Stiftung to IPs Ulrich Pfister and Carsten Burhop on “Multilateral Free Trade in the 19th Century – Causes and Effects of the Cobden-Chevalier network”).

My education consists in a Magister Artium with major in Early Modern and Contemporary History (“Neuere und Neueste Geschichte”) and minors in Economic Policy/Economics (“Wirtschaftspolitik”) and Applied Cultural Studies (“Angewandte Kulturwissenschaften”), 2004, and a PhD in Economics (supervised by Ulrich Pfister), 2008, both from the University of Münster.

I am member of the Instituto Figuerola and a CEPR Research Fellow in the Economic History Programme as well as a member of the Economic History Committee of the German Economic Association. I am also member of the Economic History Society, the Economic History Association, the European Historical Economics Society and the Gesellschaft für Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeschichte.
